When a group of dog rescuers arrived at the market to show the dogs available for adoption, somebody had left 12 puppies on the street – 8 of them were approximately 5 weeks old.
In shock, the rescuers didn’t know what to do. The group had recently canceled several adoption days at the market because of bad weather, so they were over their capacity with puppies still needing to be adopted out. Also, the abandoned puppies were so small that they needed to be fed every two hours, including at night.
That’s when a spayed stray dog approached, lay down beside the shoe box where the puppies were sleeping, and began caring for them.

She wouldn’t let anyone get near the babies.

Very carefully, the rescuers placed the puppies closer to her.

She began caressing them and offering the warmth of her belly to the newborns.

The maternal instinct kicked in and…

after a few hours, she had milk and was feeding the puppies.

The rescue group named her Vida, which means “life” in Portuguese.

doublebridle:

It is with a heavy heart that I have decided to put Kelso for sale. Kelso is a 16.3h 1998 off-track Thoroughbred gelding with a puppy-dog personality and tons of talent. He has been evented up to beginner novice and really loves doing his job, whether that’s jumping or working on dressage. He’s an absolute love and has impeccable manners. I would recommend him to a confident beginner on up who has the time to really work with him, because he is a very forward-moving, athletic horse with a considerable amount of get-up-and-go. Does have some arthritis issues in his hocks so I would recommend hock injections if being jumped (as I only used him for dressage), but is otherwise a solid citizen. Stands, bathes, hauls, is the perfect gentleman in every way. UTD on all vet and farrier. Currently barefoot and doing well but had all four shoes up until October. Can send his bridle, bit, and blankets (light to heavy, fly sheet, and cooler) along with him. Asking $1500 OBO, but I will be very very picky about where he goes, and require a right of first refusal if purchaser ever decides to sell him. He’s my boy and the only reason I’m selling him is because I feel he deserves a better, more confident rider who can devote more time and energy to keeping him fit and happy. Please message me for more photos and videos, or to set up a time to come meet him! Currently located in Grant, MN (near Stillwater).
(please reblog and spread the word, I need to find him the perfect home!)
